Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Stpeterscoll\"><strong>St Peter&#8217;s College on Facebook<\/strong><\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s opening day of the <strong>St Peter&#8217;s College Football Festival<\/strong>, part of the <strong>20th annual<\/strong> <strong>St Peter&#8217;s College Sport and Cultural Festival<\/strong>, was a hive of activity and excitement as a busy schedule kicked off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/category\/606f65f91eea03755e56797c\/sub-category\/65095a6e91ce99294b3cbf03\/\"><strong>Catch the action LIVE on SuperSport Schools\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Boys&#8217; Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool A, <strong>Clapham High<\/strong>, fresh off of claiming the <strong>Gauteng Kay Motsepe Championship <\/strong>title last weekend, set their sights on more silverware.<\/p>\n<p>They got off to a good start, overrunning <strong>Penryn College<\/strong> 7-0, which they followed with a 3-0 defeat of <strong>Southdowns College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beaulieu College<\/strong> faces Clapham in the final group match on Saturday, and it will be for first place in Pool A after Beaulieu beat Penryn 3-0 and Southdowns 2-1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>St John&#8217;s College<\/strong>, contesting Pool B, have been relishing their football in recent weeks, which included <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wins-for-jeppe-and-st-johns-maritzburg-college-downs-hilton\/\"><strong>beating King Edward VII School (KES)<\/strong><\/a>. They added another two wins to their record on Friday, edging out <strong>Crawford International Lonehill <\/strong>1-0, followed by a more convincing 3-0 win over <strong>Enjabulweni High School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After going down to St John&#8217;s, Enjabulweni High made a tick in the victory column, holding off <strong>Stanford Lake College<\/strong> 1-0. Crawford Lonehill and Stanford Lake shared a 1-1 draw.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool C<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool C, <strong>Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge<\/strong> and <strong>St Benedict&#8217;s College<\/strong> confirmed their places in the knockout rounds of the festival, with both sides picking up two wins on Friday. They&#8217;ll duel on Saturday for first place in the group.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Trinityhouse beat <strong>HeronBridge College <\/strong>4-1 and claimed further points from a bye.\u00a0<em><strong>Bennies<\/strong><\/em> won 2-0 against HeronBridge and also bagged points from a bye.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool D<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool D, <strong>Uplands College<\/strong> cruised to the top of the table, thanks to a 4-1 win over <strong>Pinnacle College Rynfield <\/strong>and a 4-0 victory over Polokwane&#8217;s <strong>Mitchell House<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St Dunstan&#8217;s College<\/strong> picked up a 2-0 win over Pinnacle College Rynfield.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool E<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Parktown Boys&#8217; High<\/strong>, recognised as one of the strongest teams in Gauteng, headed to the top of Pool E after two hard-fought wins, beating Steyn City 2-0 before scoring a tight 1-0 victory over Eswatini&#8217;s <strong>Waterford Kamhlaba<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Swazi school rebounded with a 4-1 win against <strong>Polokwane Preparatory School and College (PEPPS),<\/strong> while Steyn City beat the same opposition 2-0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool F<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool F, <strong>St David&#8217;s Marist Inanda<\/strong> kicked off their campaign with a 6-1 win over <strong>Sisekelo High<\/strong>. They were stretched by <strong>Christian Brothers&#8217; College (CBC) Boksburg<\/strong> in their second game but fought their way to a 1-0 victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>King&#8217;s College,<\/strong> meanwhile, won 4-1 win against Sisekelo High and settled for a 1-1 draw with CBC Boksburg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool G<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Norkem Park High<\/strong> set the standard in Pool G, scoring two comfortable victories. They opened with a 3-0 win over <strong>Woodlands International College<\/strong> and then brushed aside <strong>St Andrew&#8217;s College<\/strong>, winning 4-1.<\/p>\n<p>The Makhanda school claimed a 1-0 win over <strong>St Alban&#8217;s College<\/strong>, who also went down 0-2 against Woodlands International College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool H<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool H, the hosts, St Peter&#8217;s, picked up a win and a draw. They started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against <strong>African Leadership Academy<\/strong> and followed that with a 3-0 win over <strong>Dainfern College.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Saheti School<\/strong> won 2-0 against Dainfern College to close a busy day of back-and-forth competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Girls&#8217; Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool A of the girls&#8217; competition, <strong>Waterstone College<\/strong> made a sparkling start. They kicked off the festival with a 7-2 victory over <strong>African Leadership Academy <\/strong>and charged to a 5-0 win over HeronBridge College in their second outing.<\/p>\n<p>Waterford Kamhlaba also won twice, beating HeronBridge College 4-1 and African Leadership Academy 5-2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool B, <strong>Norkem Park High<\/strong> won by the odd goal in seven against <strong>Krugersdorp High<\/strong>, snatching a 4-3 win. They scored a clear-cut 3-0 win over <strong>Jeppe High School for Girls<\/strong> later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>Jeppe rebounded from that defeat with 2-0 win against PEPPS, while Krugersdorp High also beat PEPPS, recording a 4-0 victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool C<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool C, <strong>St Anne&#8217;s Diocesan College<\/strong>, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-annes-umthoqotho-high-excel-at-riverwood-aquelle-soccer-festival\/\">winners of the Riverwood aQuell\u00e9 Soccer Festival<\/a> <\/strong>and <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-annes-wins-second-trophy-of-2025-glenwood-does-clive-barker-proud\/\"><strong>the Midlands Cup<\/strong><\/a>, showed they mean business with a 5-0 win over <strong>Saheti<\/strong> and a 4-1 victory against Stanford Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford Lake reversed their fortunes against <strong>Woodlands International College<\/strong>, charging to an 8-0 win, while Saheti handed Woodlands a 7-0 loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool D<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clapham High<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/clapham-high-leads-the-gauteng-champions-league-title-race\/\"><strong>the front runners in the Gauteng Schools Champions League<\/strong><\/a>, made a massive statement in Pool D, overpowering <strong>Roedean School<\/strong> 12-0 before repeating that one-sided score in a second victory over <strong>St John&#8217;s Diocesan School for Girls (DSG).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>St John&#8217;s DSG was on the winning side against <strong>Dominican Convent- Harare<\/strong>, coming away with a 2-0 win, while Roedean matched that score in their defeat of Dominican Convent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool E<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Beaulieu College&#8217;s girls&#8217; team matched the strong start made by their boys&#8217; side by picking up two wins on Friday. They enjoyed a smooth 7-0 win over <strong>Southdowns College<\/strong> before being made to sweat for a 2-1 win over <strong>Edenvale High<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Southdowns College settled for a 2-2 draw against <strong>Brescia House School <\/strong>in their other outing, while Brescia and Edenvale High delivered a high-octane, thrilling 5-5 draw when they met.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool F<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge<\/strong> set the standard in Pool F with a 7-1 win over <strong>Enjabulweni High<\/strong>. They also received points for a bye.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St Cyprian&#8217;s School<\/strong> was every bit as dominant in their 6-0 win over Enjabulweni High and added further points from their bye.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool G<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Matters were rather quiet in Pool G, with only two matches being played.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crawford International Lonehill<\/strong> secured a 2-1 win over <strong>Sisekelo High<\/strong>, while <strong>Pinnacle College Rynfield<\/strong> and <strong>Penryn College <\/strong>played to a 1-1 draw.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool H<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Pool H, St Peter&#8217;s College, like their boys&#8217; side, picked up a win and a draw on the opening day.
