{"id":84054,"date":"2025-09-30T14:14:32","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T12:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=84054"},"modified":"2025-09-30T14:14:32","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T12:14:32","slug":"chatsworth-hub-cruises-to-kzn-coastal-schools-sa20-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=84054","title":{"rendered":"Chatsworth Hub cruises to KZN Coastal Schools SA20 title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment --><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-83230\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cricket-schools-sa20-banner-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/>The <strong>Chatsworth Hub Girls&#8217; u18 team<\/strong> was crowned the <strong>KZN Coastal Schools SA20<\/strong> champion after a convincing eight-wicket win over the <strong>KCCD Hub<\/strong> <strong>XI<\/strong> on Sunday at <strong>Kloof High<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">In the final, Chatsworth won the toss, opted to field, and it worked out well for them as they dismissed the KCCD XI for only 101 runs in 19.4 overs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Opening batter, <strong>Amanda <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Shandu<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\">, provided stubborn resistance, making 36 off 35 balls, which included four fours. She was at the crease while 86 of KCCD&#8217;s runs were scored.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Noxolo<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Biyela<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"> chipped in with 15 and <strong>Angelo Mlambo<\/strong> made 14, but the Chatsworth bowlers dominated, none more than <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Sihana<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"><strong> Naidu<\/strong>, who snapped up 2\/7 from her four overs. Her new ball partner, <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Aadya<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Mohun<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\">, claimed 2\/9 in 3.4, while <strong>Anastacia Pillay<\/strong> also picked up 2\/9. <strong>Shreya Subbiah<\/strong> nabbed 2\/21.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">While the Chatsworth bowlers dominated, they let themselves down a little by sending down 22 wides, which played a big role in KCCD reaching triple figures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Chatsworth&#8217;s run pursuit, though, lasted only 11.3 overs as they rapidly chased down the 102-run victory target for the loss of only two wickets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cricket Final - KCCD Hub vs Chatsworth Hub - Switch School SA20 - 28 Sept 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QOePhSmnCkg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">They made a splendid start, with Shreya Subbiah and <strong>Thando <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Matamela<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"> putting on 68 for the first wicket in seven overs. Subbiah was then trapped in front by <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Lonathemba<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Mncwango<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"> for 32 from 21 balls. She had hit six fours.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Matamela<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> was still going strongly, however, and she shepherded Chatsworth across the line, finishing on 50 not out, with nine fours.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Mncwango<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> picked up both wickets to fall, ending with 2\/15 from four overs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Earlier in the day, Chatsworth faced <strong>Dr John L Dube<\/strong> in the semi-finals, while KCCD took on <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Nqabakazulu<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr John L Dube vs Chatsworth Hub<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">At the beginning of the year, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/dr-john-l-dube-crowned-kzns-girls-schools-sa20-champions\/\"><strong>Dr John L Dube lifted the regional title<\/strong><\/a>, comfortably beating <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Bonginhlanhla<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"><strong> High<\/strong> in the final, but they were brushed aside by <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Chatworth<\/span><span class=\"cf0\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Dr John L Dube tallied 94\/4, batting first, with <strong>Lungile Ngcobo<\/strong> top-scoring with 33 from 60, and <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Sihana<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> Naidu capturing 2\/7 from four for Chatsworth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It seemed like a reasonable batting effort, but Chatsworth made light work of the target, cruising to 98 without loss in only 13.5 overs.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Shreya Subbiah cracked eight fours in an unbeaten 56 off 50 balls, while Thando <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Matamela<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> made a run-a-ball 34, with four fours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>KCCD Hub vs Nqabakazulu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the other semi-final, <span class=\"cf0\">Nqabakazulu&#8217;s<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> innings lasted only 15.2 overs before they were dismissed for 58. <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Ziyanda<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Xulu<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\">, with 18, was the only batter to reach double figures.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Noxolo<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Biyela<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> ripped through <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Nqabakazulu&#8217;s<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> batting, capturing 6\/6 in four overs, which included five of the first seven batters in the order.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">KCCD made heavy work of the low victory target of 59, labouring to 59\/5 after 15.1 overs.
