Photo: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TeamphotoSA\">TeamPhoto SA<\/a><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There were some shock results and a bucketload of goals scored on Saturday, day one of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/creme-de-la-creme-ready-to-lock-horns-at-sacs-water-polo-tournament\/\">SACS Water Polo Tournament<\/a><\/strong>, in Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>The prestigious tournament features 20 of the best boys&#8217; water polo-playing schools from across the country competing in a jam-packed schedule of 20-minute matches.<\/p>\n<p>The event runs through until Monday. All of the matches are being held at the <strong>SACS Aquatic Centre<\/strong> and streamed LIVE on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/\">SuperSport Schools App<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a blistering start to the tournament, only four sides remain unbeaten after the opening day&#8217;s play.<\/p>\n<p>In Pool A, <strong>Rondebosch Boys\u2019 High<\/strong> picked up three wins and a 4-4 draw, which came against <strong>St John&#8217;s College<\/strong> in their opener.<\/p>\n<p>After sharing the points in that outing, they upped the tempo and outplayed <strong>Grey High School<\/strong> 8-1 before shrugging off <strong>St Andrew&#8217;s College<\/strong> 5-3 and\u00a0<strong>Northwood <\/strong>5-2 later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>That put &#8216;<em><strong>Bosch <\/strong><\/em>in pole position overnight, with <strong>Jeppe High School for Boys<\/strong>, <strong>Hilton College<\/strong>, and <strong>Wynberg Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> completing the top four.<\/p>\n<p>Jeppe also had an impressive run and picked up some eye-opening wins, which included shocking <strong>St Stithians College<\/strong> 6-4 in their opener before holding St John&#8217;s to a thrilling 4-4 draw.<\/p>\n<p>The boys from Kensington went on a scoring spree against <strong>St Benedict\u2019s College<\/strong>, putting 10 past their opponents, but suffered a loss to Hilton College.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Hilton, the KwaZulu-Natal side was far from its usual best but they will be aiming to bounce back on day two.<\/p>\n<p>Like Jeppe, they picked up two wins, a draw, and a loss, which they suffered at the hands of <strong>Wynberg Boys&#8217; High<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Paul Martin<\/strong>-coached side kicks off Pool A proceedings on day two with a crucial game against St John&#8217;s, who, they recently beat in <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/hilton-college-holds-off-st-johns-in-clifton-water-polo-tournament-final\/\"><strong>the final of the Clifton Water Polo Tournament<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>St Benedict&#8217;s will be hunting their first win while Grey High and Northwood will be aiming to move up the table.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_84298\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84298\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-84298\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/St-Albans-14-400x266.jpg\" alt=\"St Alban's College found the going hard on day one of the SACS Water Polo Tournament. Photo: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TeamphotoSA\">TeamPhoto SA<\/a><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Pool B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pool B was always going to be interesting with several top guns eager to make a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts, SACS, produced a flawless start and won all four of their matches, beating <strong>Parktown Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> 15-0, <strong>St Alban&#8217;s College<\/strong> 6-4, <strong>Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> (PBHS) 4-3, and <strong>Grey College<\/strong> 4-3.<\/p>\n<p>They were joined on the &#8220;unbeaten train&#8221; by <strong>Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong> (PRG) and <strong>St David&#8217;s Marist Inanda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>PRG has found the going tough in recent tournaments, but they appeared to have turned a new leaf at the SACS Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Coach <strong>Vaughn Marlow<\/strong>\u2019s boys picked up victories against PBHS, Parktown Boys, and <strong>Clifton College<\/strong>. Their biggest triumph on the day, however, was a 3-1 victory over the defending champions, <strong>Bishops Diocesan College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>St David&#8217;s ended the day in third place, with Bishops completing the top four.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selborne College<\/strong>, <strong>St Alban&#8217;s<\/strong> and Clifton, are all tied on three points after four matches, while PBHS and Parktown will go in search of their first victories on day two.<\/p>\n<p>The first three matches of Sunday will be Pool B fixtures, with PRG tackling St Alban\u2019s before the hosts take on Selborne.
