St. John’s won the toss in Richmond<\/strong> and elected to field first against Paarl Boys’ High<\/strong> on Monday. A fine effort in the field set the Johannesburg side up to chase down a moderate total, and they came through with a three-wicket victory.<\/p>\n

Boishaai<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>was limited to only 125 all out in 35.3 overs, but AB Jacobs<\/strong>\u00a0resisted the St John’s onslaught, scoring 21, while Peter Gildenhuis\u00a0<\/strong>mustered 20 on a pitch that favoured the bowlers.<\/p>\n

David Ireland<\/strong> was at the heart of the St John’s bowling attack, delivering a memorable performance of 5\/24 from eight overs.<\/p>\n

The Johannesburg<\/strong> side began their run chase strongly, led by opener Nkosana Sibiya<\/strong>, who tallied 61 off 95 balls, which included walloping five fours and a six. Around him, though, he saw partners come and go.<\/p>\n

Sibiya’s innings was decisive, however, and he took his side to within two runs of victory before departing. Three balls later, St John’s brought the contest to a close.<\/p>\n

Keanu February<\/strong> and Aden Batt<\/strong> bowled well, but Paarl Boys’ High let themselves down with an untidy performance by sending down 20 wides and conceding 22 extras. In a low-scoring game, that was telling.<\/p>\n

Paarl Gimnasium vs CSA Hub Invitational XI (50-overs)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Lynwood Club<\/strong>, the CSA Hub Invitational XI<\/strong> won the toss and chose to field first. Paarl Gimnasium,<\/strong> with a committed performance at the crease, posted 208 all out.<\/p>\n

Opener Matt Dippenaar<\/strong> stuck around for a while to help build up the innings, scoring 38 runs off 96 balls, while Charles King<\/strong> was Gimmies<\/strong><\/em>‘ highest scorer for a second day in succession, cracking two fours and two sixes in his 46, which came at almost a run a ball.<\/p>\n

Mpontsheng Mashalane<\/strong> bowled superbly, claiming 3\/11 in three overs, while Taywin Adams<\/strong> collected 2\/27 in seven overs, but also bowled 11 wides.<\/p>\n

When the CSA Hub XI batted, Daveric Peterson<\/strong> put up 22 off 47 before being dismissed LBW by Charles King. His was, however, a very lonely resistance as six of his teammates were dismissed on a single or less.<\/p>\n

Beon Swanepoel<\/strong> was dynamite, bowling an accurate attacking line to earn four LBWs and figures of 5\/24 from 10 overs.<\/p>\n

King, meanwhile, followed up his good batting performance with a sharp bowling contribution, sending down three maidens in his 3\/15 from seven overs.<\/p>\n

In just 21.1 overs, the Hub XI was bowled out for a disappointing 66.<\/p>\n
