Maritzburg College vs Paarl Boys’ High (20-over)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paarl Boys’ High<\/strong> won the toss on Goldstone’s <\/strong>and elected to field first in their T20 against Maritzburg College<\/strong> on Tuesday, the final day of the Oppenheimer Michaelmas Cricket Week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

College<\/strong>, though, made a strong start and kept riding that excellent platform all the way to 168\/3. In the end, they won by 18 runs.<\/p>\n

Captain, Daniel Nadasan<\/strong>, struck four fours in his 33 off 27 balls, while his fellow opener, Kyle de<\/strong> Bruyn<\/strong>, improved on that strong contribution, walloping seven fours and a six on his way to 56 off 46. Together, they achieved a 79-run opening stand.<\/p>\n

In at number three, Sphamandla Dzanibe <\/strong>kept the momentum going, scoring an unbeaten 55 off 41.<\/p>\n

The Paarl<\/strong> bowlers were made to toil, with Aden Batt<\/strong> and Pieter Gildenhuis,<\/strong> the best of them, returning matching figures of 1\/20 from three overs.<\/p>\n

While Boishaai<\/strong><\/em>‘s run chase came up short, it wasn’t because of\u00a0Gideon du Toit<\/strong>. He got on top of the College bowlers, smashing six fours and a six in a fighting 63 not out from only 34 balls.<\/p>\n

Opener Christo Muller<\/strong> delivered 31 off 26 but his run out left the visitors wobbling on 45\/3.<\/p>\n

Left-arm paceman Dzanibe showed off his all-round ability by knocking over 4\/25 in four overs, while Karl Dedekind<\/strong> collected 2\/13 in two as Paarl Boys High ended on 150\/7.<\/p>\n

Pretoria Boys High vs Paarl Gimnasium (20-over)<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Collegians, Pretoria Boys High <\/strong>captain Tim Gordon<\/strong> decided to bat first after the toss went his way. Thanks to a terrific opening stand, his side put up a strong 171\/3 against Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Opener Ethan Nel<\/strong> led from the front, scoring an impressive 75 off 69, which included seven fours. Gordon, who usually bats third in the order, opened with Nel and provided Boys High with a big boost by bashing four sixes and six fours in a rapid 68 off 34 balls.<\/p>\n

Together, the pair provided the highlight of the match, a 130-run partnership.<\/p>\n

Gimmies<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0were made to toil as Boys High scored at 8.55 runs per over. Wian Munnik<\/strong>, with 0\/22 from four overs, was their most economical bowler.<\/p>\n

Their run chase was led by the in-form Charles King<\/strong>, who was, again, superb. He hammered six fours and a six in an unbeaten 72 from only 49 deliveries, while Munnik weighed in with 26 at the top of the order.<\/p>\n

Liam Brooker<\/strong>, though, made a serious impact for Pretoria Boys High, removing three dangermen – Munnik, Derrick Groenewald<\/strong> and Matt Dippenaar<\/strong> – to finish with 3\/22 from four overs.<\/p>\n

Paarl Gim’s run pursuit was undermined early in their innings when they tumbled to 58\/4 after nine overs. They had too much to make up but, with King leading the charge, they finished on a respectable 152\/7.<\/p>\n
