teams on show at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/top-sides-primed-for-saints-water-polo-invitational\/\">St Stithians College Water Polo Invitational Tournament<\/a><\/strong>, those were quickly dispelled on Thursday, day one of the tournament in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>The much-anticipated event, which runs until Sunday, 18 October, delivered some outstanding goals and individual performances, with some of the ballyhooed teams making their presence felt.<\/p>\n<p>A whopping 323 goals were scored, with only nine teams out of 20 ending the day with their unbeaten records intact.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">All matches are <strong>LIVE<\/strong> on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/category\/606f65f91eea03755e56797c\/sub-category\/68e405dcf6b3d62da1cfb7b0\/\">SuperSport Schools<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The action began bright and early with a <strong>Pool A<\/strong> clash between <strong>Bishops Diocesan College<\/strong> and <strong>Michaelhouse<\/strong>.\u00a0Bishops, after a steady start, ran rampant in the second half and thumped their opponents 14-3.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Jabulani Sibiya<\/strong>-coached side later overwhelmed <strong>King Edward VII<\/strong> <strong>(KES)<\/strong> 17-3 in their second game to occupy top spot overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Joining them on maximum points was their provincial rival, <strong>Rondebosch Boys\u2019 High<\/strong>, who were almost as dominant.<\/p>\n<p>Led by the powerful and skilful <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/player-profile-noah-reiback-rondebosch-boys-high\/\">Noah Reiback<\/a><\/strong>, the Cape side scored 12 against KES before thumping <strong>Pearson High<\/strong>\u00a015-2 later in the day.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Waterpolo - Hilton College vs Reddam House Constantia - Saints Senior Waterpolo Festival 16 Oct 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YVaDeKHii_A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After their early loss, Michaelhouse made a tick in the win column after outscoring Pearson 12-2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool B<\/strong> features two giants of schoolboy water polo, <strong>St John&#8217;s College<\/strong> and <strong>SACS<\/strong>, and thus far, it&#8217;s been an arm-wrestle between the two for the top spot in the group.<\/p>\n<p>St John&#8217;s had their confidence boosted ahead of the tournament by winning the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-johns-college-wins-sacs-water-polo-tournament-after-thrilling-final\/\">SACS Water Polo Tournament<\/a><\/strong> a week ago, and coach <strong>Jon-Marc De Carvalho&#8217;<\/strong>s outfit went about their business quietly but effectively, beating <strong>Jeppe High School for Boys<\/strong> 8-4 before upping the ante against <strong>Durban High School<\/strong> <strong>(DHS)<\/strong>, whom they defeated\u00a014-4.<\/p>\n<p>SACS, meanwhile, dominated <strong>St Benedict&#8217;s College<\/strong> and shrugged off the challenge of DHS in the final game of the day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_85024\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-85024\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-85024 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/water-polo-hilton-college-161025-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Debbi Adcock Photography.\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-85024\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/debbiadcockphotography\/\"><strong>Debbi Adcock Photography<\/strong><\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A key showdown awaits on Friday, with St John&#8217;s and SACS meeting at 16:10.<\/p>\n<p>In Pool C, the goals flowed, with a mind-boggling 82 being scored, including 21 each by <strong>Hilton College<\/strong> and <strong>St David&#8217;s Marist Inanda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Those sides are undeniably the favourites to progress from the group, and both made big statements.<\/p>\n<p>Hilton scored a clear-cut 13-5 win over <strong>Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> before holding off Cape Town&#8217;s <strong>Reddam House Constantia<\/strong> 8-6 later on.<\/p>\n<p>St David\u2019s, meanwhile, beat Reddam 11-7 before outplaying the newcomers, <strong>Woodridge College<\/strong>, in their final match of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of coach <strong>Dean Whyte<\/strong>, St David&#8217;s are no longer underdogs, and the teams they&#8217;re up against will be wary of the threat the Sandton school poses.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Waterpolo - Kearsney College vs Grey High School - Saints Senior Waterpolo Festival - 16 Oct 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ziA-Cjbsw1M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
