Paul Roos Gimnasium vs Paarl Gimnasium (20-over)<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a second round Switch Schools SA20 – Volume Two<\/strong> match on Wednesday, Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong> (PRG)<\/strong> won the toss at home and chose to field first against the visitors, Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Gimmies<\/em> <\/strong>did a solid job with the bat and an even better one in the field to win the game by 31 runs.<\/p>\n

Matt Dippenaar<\/strong>, their number three batsman, led the charge for the visitors, smashing eight fours and three sixes in a decisive 80 runs off only 52 balls.<\/p>\n

The best of the Paul Roos bowlers were Dion Slabber<\/strong> and Morn\u00e9 Pauw<\/strong>, who picked up 2\/25 and 2\/26 respectively from their four overs.<\/p>\n

After 20 overs, Paarl Gim had posted 142\/7 – a good score, but not an unassailable total.<\/p>\n

Faced with a required run rate of over seven per over, PRG opener Aiden Titus<\/strong> gave the home side a quick start, striking three fours and a six in a hasty 22 off 14 balls.<\/p>\n

However, after his dismissal, the Stellenbosch <\/strong>school’s batsmen struggled to continue his good work. Marcus Conradie<\/strong>, batting fifth,\u00a0came the closest, tallying 19 off 22.<\/p>\n

Gimmies bowled tightly and kept the scoring rate down, with Derrick Groenewald<\/strong> and Kieran Daniels<\/strong>, who claimed two wickets each, leading the way.<\/p>\n

They were also outstanding in the field, engineering three run outs as Paul Roos was all out on a Nelson, 111.<\/p>\n

Paarl Boy’s High vs Boland Landbou (20-over)<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Paarl Boys’ High, Boland Landbou<\/strong> won the toss selected to field first against the home team. It proved to be a tough day all-round for the Farmers<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Paarl Boys’ High<\/strong> batsmen were excellent, while their bowlers also delivered the goods, leading to a dominant 109-run victory for the hosts.<\/p>\n

Opener AB Jacobs<\/strong> was talismanic for Boishaai<\/strong><\/em>, thumping a sensational 117 runs off 63 balls, which included 20 boundaries. He lofted nine balls for six and another 11 were dispatched for four.<\/p>\n

His opening partner Neil Louw<\/strong> contributed 28 runs to a 101-run opening stand.<\/p>\n

Kobus Conradie<\/strong> was Boland Landbou’s leading wicket-taker, but he was also the most expensive of their bowlers, returning 2\/53 from four overs.<\/p>\n

With Jacobs’ laying waste to the Farmers’ bowlers, Boishaai<\/strong> <\/em>ended their 20 overs with a challenging total of 181\/3.<\/p>\n

That gave their bowlers plenty of runs to defend, and instilled confidence into their fielding effort. Aden Batt, Ullrich Drotschie<\/strong> and Reese Peterson<\/strong> all claimed two wickets each as the hosts excelled in the field, restricting Boland Landbou to just 72 all out\u00a0after 13.2 overs.<\/p>\n

Opener Gideon Kotze<\/strong> was the only Boland<\/strong> batsman who looked prepared for the Boishaai threat, cracking two fours in his 25-run tally.<\/p>\n
