{"id":8754,"date":"2019-05-05T16:51:33","date_gmt":"2019-05-05T16:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rugby.supersportschools.com\/paul-roos-gimnasium-once-again-big-in-japan\/"},"modified":"2019-05-05T16:51:33","modified_gmt":"2019-05-05T16:51:33","slug":"paul-roos-gimnasium-once-again-big-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=8754","title":{"rendered":"Paul Roos Gimnasium once again Big in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-8753\" style=\"margin: 0px 10px 5px 0px; float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/rugby.supersportschools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Sanix2019.jpg\" alt=\"Sanix2019\" width=\"294\" height=\"303\" \/>Paul Roos Gimnasium bagged their second title as &#8220;world champions&#8221; on Sunday when they convincingly defeated St Peter&#8217;s College from Auckland, New Zealand by 52-5 in the final of the annual Sanix tournament in Japan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The team from Stellenbosch has also been crowned champions of this prestigious tournament in 2015 when they defeated Brisbane Boys&#8217; College of Australia by 35-3 in the final.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It was fitting that Paul Roos was South Africa&#8217;s representative during this year&#8217;s 20th edition of the tournament as they were the first SA attendees back in 2000 during the inaugural tournament. Paul Roos then lost to King&#8217;s School of New Zealand by 5-28 in the final.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Flyhalf, Kade Wolhuter, scored 74 points during the tournament as Paul Roos swept all opposition aside. Wolhuter had now scored 112 points so far this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Paul Roos booked their place in the final with a 41-21 victory over Waverley College of Australia. In the quarterfinal, they smashed Exeter College from England by 75-0. St Peter&#8217;s College, current New Zealand schools&#8217; champions, had to work hard to book their place in the final against the Japanese outfit of Toin Gakuen (17-13).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Grey College (2001), Boland Landbou (2002) and Glenwood (2008, 2016) is the other South African schools that have managed to be crowned champions of the Sanix tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Scorers:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>FINAL\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Paul Roos Gimnasium 52 &#8211;<\/strong> Tries: Andr\u00e9 Smith (2), Robbie Rodgers, Luke Burger, Joubert Grobbelaar, Jarod Cairns.
