{"id":87684,"date":"2025-12-11T13:17:22","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T11:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=87684"},"modified":"2025-12-11T13:17:22","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T11:17:22","slug":"jeze-camphers-bat-shines-brightest-as-bowlers-dominate-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=87684","title":{"rendered":"Jeze Campher&#8217;s bat shines brightest as bowlers dominate again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"218\" data-end=\"337\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-63206\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/cricket-ball-generic-250125-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/>It was the <strong data-start=\"229\" data-end=\"245\">Jeze Campher<\/strong> show at the <strong data-start=\"254\" data-end=\"272\">Westering Oval<\/strong>, in Gqeberha, on Wednesday, the second day of the <strong data-start=\"298\" data-end=\"320\">CSA U16 Girls Week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"339\" data-end=\"581\"><strong data-start=\"339\" data-end=\"350\">Campher<\/strong>, playing for the <strong data-start=\"354\" data-end=\"382\">SWD Garden Route Badgers<\/strong> in the week for a second year in succession, was the only batter to score a half-century.<\/p>\n<p>Her patient 73 from 93 balls included seven fours and helped the Badgers escape trouble before going on to an emphatic 91-run win over <strong data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"536\">Northern Cape<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"690\">Millicent Steenberg<\/strong>, also, made a useful contribution, weighing in with 28 as SWD posted 179 all out.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"798\">Campher\u2019s<\/strong> all-round abilities were again to the fore when the Badgers took to the field. She claimed a tidy 3\/16 in eight overs, the best return for her side, as Northern Cape replied with 88 all out.<\/p>\n<p>The day, once again, belonged to the bowlers.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"974\">Roeline Louw<\/strong> was exceptional for <strong data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1012\">Northern Cape<\/strong>. She opened the bowling alongside <strong data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1060\">Bakao Ntuane<\/strong>, and the pair made significant early inroads. With <strong data-start=\"1108\" data-end=\"1116\">Louw<\/strong> claiming 5\/17 in just 5.3 overs and <strong data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1163\">Ntuane<\/strong> returning 3\/29 in five, the <strong data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1203\">Badgers<\/strong> were in serious trouble at 34\/6 before <strong data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1254\">Campher<\/strong> took charge.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1310\" data-end=\"1696\">In the <strong data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1334\">Jukskei derby<\/strong> between the <strong data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1372\">Central Gauteng Lions<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1391\">Titans<\/strong>, it was <strong data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1419\">Alyssa Edwards<\/strong>&#8216; 3\/16 that proved decisive as the <strong data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1473\">Lions<\/strong> secured a 29-run victory at <strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1540\">Woodridge College<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1540\">Archibald Oval<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elysia Fourie<\/strong> top scored with 27 in the Lions&#8217; 124 all out. Without many runs to defend, they needed to maintain discipline with the ball, and they did so successfully to dismiss their neighbours for 95.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1698\" data-end=\"2152\">Day two&#8217;s most outstanding bowlers were The <strong data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1731\">Dolphins<\/strong>&#8216; <strong data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1731\">Anelisa Mhlongo<\/strong> and the talented <strong data-start=\"1749\" data-end=\"1763\">Miya Lalor<\/strong>, from <strong data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1789\">Western Province<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"1828\" data-end=\"1837\">Lalor<\/strong> was at her destructive best with the new ball against Eastern Province. Her six overs at Woodridge&#8217;s <strong data-start=\"1902\" data-end=\"1919\">Rushmere Oval<\/strong> brought her 5\/11 and were instrumental in the home side slipping to only 64 all out.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"2040\" data-end=\"2059\">Jessa Hendricks<\/strong>, then, guided the run chase expertly, making an unbeaten 38 to steer Western Province to a comfortable eight-wicket victory.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2154\" data-end=\"2647\"><strong data-start=\"2154\" data-end=\"2165\">Mhlongo<\/strong>, however, stole the spotlight with a magnificent 10-over spell on Woodridge&#8217;s <strong data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2252\">Knight Field<\/strong>. She conceded only one run per over and also snapped up six wickets as Easterns tumbled to 79 all out.<\/p>\n<p>Had it not been for <strong>Nadine Wells<\/strong>, batting at seven, matters could have been far worse for Easterns. She stood firm, however, facing 70 balls, hitting five fours, and finishing with 42 not out.<\/p>\n<p>KZN, then, took 18 overs to overhaul the Easterns&#8217; total, winning by six wickets, after an opening stand of 55 between <strong>Kendra Kreinacke<\/strong>, who made 23, and <strong>Lethokuhle Mbili<\/strong>, who contributed 21.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"2649\" data-end=\"2656\">Kei<\/strong> impressed with a tight victory over <strong data-start=\"2700\" data-end=\"2714\">Mpumalanga<\/strong> in a low-scoring thriller at the <strong data-start=\"2748\" data-end=\"2767\">Summerwood Oval<\/strong>. <strong data-start=\"2769\" data-end=\"2787\">Amila Butshala<\/strong> led a fired-up bowling attack, claiming 4\/7, while <strong data-start=\"2847\" data-end=\"2866\">Kwanele Kratshi<\/strong> knocked over 3\/19 to limit <strong data-start=\"2885\" data-end=\"2899\">Mpumalanga<\/strong> to 62 all out.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"2907\" data-end=\"2925\">Zeln\u00e9 Hattingh<\/strong> refused to go down without a fight, however. She picked up 3\/9 and <strong data-start=\"2985\" data-end=\"3002\">Dineo Mlimo <\/strong>bagged 2\/18, forcing the <strong data-start=\"3022\" data-end=\"3029\">Kei<\/strong> batters to work hard for their victory. After 16 overs, they made it, with three wickets in hand.<\/p>\n<p>In another low-scoring game, <!--StartFragment --><span class=\"cf0\">the <strong>Limpopo Impalas<\/strong> beat the <strong>Eastern Cape <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Iinyathi<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"> by 23 runs at <strong>Daniel Pienaar<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Limpopo&#8217;s innings of 83 all out was boosted by 34 extras. Then, three cheap wickets each from <strong><span class=\"cf0\">Lunghelo<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Malungana<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\">, <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Pontsho<\/span> <span class=\"cf0\">Mopayi<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\">, and <strong>Alicia <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Masela<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"> kept Limpopo to only 60 all out in response.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On Woodridge&#8217;s <strong>Monahan Field<\/strong>, <strong>Free State<\/strong> won by 32 runs against <strong>North West<\/strong>, making 102 all out before bowling out their opposition for 70 behind 3\/4 in 5.3 overs from Thando Nelane, which destroyed North West&#8217;s middle order.<\/p>\n<p>The highest total of the day belonged to <strong>Boland<\/strong>. <strong>Lize de Waal<\/strong> led the way, missing out on a half-century by only one run as the Capetonians totalled 203 all out.
