{"id":87723,"date":"2025-12-12T05:47:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T03:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=87723"},"modified":"2025-12-12T05:47:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T03:47:04","slug":"lions-impalas-and-badgers-shine-in-action-packed-t20s-in-gqeberha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=87723","title":{"rendered":"Lions, Impalas and Badgers shine in action-packed T20s in Gqeberha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"141\" data-end=\"271\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-63203\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/cricket-ball-bat-generic-250125-1-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/>The third day of the <strong data-start=\"162\" data-end=\"193\">CSA Girls U16 National Week<\/strong> in <strong data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"209\">Gqeberha<\/strong> saw the players take the field for two rounds of T20 cricket.\u00a0The shorter format promised tight contests, and it delivered.<\/p>\n<p>In the morning matches, the <strong data-start=\"350\" data-end=\"375\">Central Gauteng Lions<\/strong> secured one of the biggest wins of the round, beating <strong data-start=\"430\" data-end=\"444\">Free State<\/strong> by seven wickets on the <strong data-start=\"469\" data-end=\"485\">Monahan Oval<\/strong> at <strong data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"510\">Woodridge College<\/strong>, while the <strong data-start=\"522\" data-end=\"541\">Limpopo Impalas<\/strong> recorded the highest team total of the day, 155, in a 72-run win over <strong data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"620\">Northern Cape<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"634\" data-end=\"967\"><strong data-start=\"634\" data-end=\"654\">Lucilla Ramosala<\/strong> was the mainstay of the <strong data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"689\">Lions&#8217;<\/strong> victory. Her 44 from just 33 deliveries ensured her side chased down a victory target of 119 inside 14 overs. She received strong support from <strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"847\">Biotumelo Chuene<\/strong>, who added a valuable 30 at just under a run a ball.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong data-start=\"905\" data-end=\"916\">Impalas<\/strong> also delivered a well-rounded batting performance.\u00a0Their march to 155 at <strong data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1013\">HTS Daniel Pienaar<\/strong> was led by <strong data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1047\">Ntsakiso Mukhavela<\/strong>, who patiently compiled 38. Although they did not bowl out the <strong data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1135\">Northern Capetonians<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1152\">Limpopo<\/strong> attack combined well to restrict the opposition to 83\/5 in their 20 overs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1663\">In contrast, the clash between <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1269\">Easterns<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1294\">Eastern Province<\/strong> was a thriller, ending in a tense one-wicket victory for <strong data-start=\"1335\" data-end=\"1355\">Eastern Province<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1376\">Morgan de Souza<\/strong> proved decisive, with her superb 4\/8 in three overs on Woodridge&#8217;s <strong>Rushmere Oval<\/strong> playing a big part in restricting <strong data-start=\"1494\" data-end=\"1506\">Easterns<\/strong> to just 63 all out. However, that proved to be almost enough. The impressive <strong data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1564\">Nadine Wells<\/strong> captured 4\/21 in four overs as Easterns came ever so close to successfully defending the low total.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"2145\"><strong data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"1681\">Jeze Campher<\/strong>, of the <strong data-start=\"1689\" data-end=\"1717\">SWD Garden Route Badgers<\/strong>, delivered her second outstanding performance in as many days to steer her side to a 19-run triumph over the <strong data-start=\"1870\" data-end=\"1895\">Eastern Cape Iinyathi<\/strong> at <strong>Summerwood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A crucial, unbeaten 33 helped her team out of early trouble and on to 82\/5 from their 20 overs. Then, she turned the screws on the Iinyathi reply, keeping their batters in check while snaring 2\/6 in four overs. At the end of their 20 overs, the Iinyathi had reached 63\/7.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2147\" data-end=\"2513\"><strong data-start=\"2147\" data-end=\"2169\">Diarabilwe Ngubeni<\/strong> produced a nearly-identical all-round display. The only difference between her performance and Campher&#8217;s was a single extra run conceded in her four overs, but she also claimed another wicket, returning 3\/7 and an unbeaten 33 in the <strong data-start=\"2412\" data-end=\"2435\">North West Dragons\u2019<\/strong> three-wicket victory over the <strong data-start=\"2466\" data-end=\"2476\">Titans<\/strong> at Woodridge&#8217;s <strong data-start=\"2484\" data-end=\"2499\">Knight Field<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2147\" data-end=\"2513\"><strong>Western Province<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Miya Lalor<\/strong> continued her outstanding form, scoring 46 and taking 2\/9 in a 20-run win over <strong>The Dolphins<\/strong> on <strong>Archibald Field<\/strong>, at Woodridge, while <strong>Mpumalanga<\/strong> edged out The Dolphins&#8217; neighbours, <strong>The Tuskers<\/strong>, by two wickets at Daniel Pienaar. <strong>Zeln\u00e9 Hattingh<\/strong> was, once again, to the fore for Mpumalanga, top scoring with 22.<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>Westering<\/strong>, <strong>Isabela Mouton<\/strong> knocked back 4\/3 as <strong>Kei<\/strong> tallied 63\/9, and <strong>Lize de Waal<\/strong>, with 28, and <strong>Chemeka Williams<\/strong>, with 19, shared an unbroken fifth-wicket partnership of 41 to see Boland to a five-wicket win over Kei.
