\"\"BLOEMFONTEIN.<\/span><\/strong> \u2013<\/b> Titans<\/strong>‘ opening batter Reuben van Zyl<\/strong> is in red-hot form.<\/p>\n

Van Zyl struck his second consecutive century of the Khaya Majola Cricket Week<\/strong> with a superb 166 against Free State<\/strong> on the Johan Volsteedt Oval<\/strong> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

His innings is the third-highest score in the history of the tournament. The record belongs to Free State<\/strong>‘s Rilee Rossouw<\/strong>, who smashed a whirlwind 182 against Kei<\/strong> in 2006.<\/p>\n

Rossouw, who went on to play 36 One-Day Internationals for South Africa, played most of his school cricket on the very same Johan Volsteedt Oval.<\/p>\n

Van Zyl shared an opening partnership of 81 runs with Tshepang Laka<\/strong> (14) before combining with Mohammad Rasool<\/strong> (67*) in a commanding 172-run stand for the second wicket to take control of the contest.<\/p>\n

The Titans won the match by eight wickets to book a semi-final meeting with Gauteng<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Van Zyl’s innings lasted 114 deliveries and included 18 fours and eight sixes.<\/p>\n

Free State would not have been too dissatisfied after posting 261\/5 in their 50 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Aiden Dodd<\/strong> (78), Christian Kind<\/strong> (76) and FG Botha<\/strong> (55).<\/p>\n

Defending champions Western Province<\/strong> remain unbeaten after their two-wicket victory over Boland<\/strong>. They will face the Tuskers<\/strong> in the other semi-final.<\/p>\n

The Tuskers slipped into the semi-finals through the back door, with their three-wicket win over Eastern Province<\/strong> lifting their net run rate to 0.164.<\/p>\n

That victory, coupled with the Dolphins<\/strong>‘ six-wicket defeat to Gauteng, meant the Dolphins, Tuskers and Eastern Province all finished level on four log points. The Tuskers progressed to the semi-finals on a better net run-rate.<\/p>\n

Dolphins’ batter Seth Simpson<\/strong>‘s century (102) was not enough to secure a win for his side. Gauteng’s Armaan Manack<\/strong> (103) led his team’s and shared a 137-run second-wicket partnership with Ombesa Matsha (75).<\/p>\n
