The third annual Kovsie Smash<\/strong>, hosted by Ho\u00ebrskool Fichardtpark<\/strong> in Bloemfontein, will, alongside the Cubs Week in Stellenbosch, be the first official schools\u2019 cricket week to usher in the new year.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition will see 19 teams<\/strong> competing for the title previously held by Ho\u00ebrskool Wesvalia<\/strong> of Klerksdorp.<\/p>\n

The tournament will begin on Monday, 5<\/strong>\u00a0January<\/strong> and conclude on Friday, 9 January<\/strong>, with a new champion set to be crowned at the end of the week.<\/p>\n

Defending champions Wesvalia<\/strong> will not be in attendance this year. However, Ho\u00ebrskool Kalahari<\/strong> from Kuruman, strong contenders and finalists at the 2025 edition, will return and are expected to feature prominently once again.<\/p>\n

Two new entrants will add further intrigue to the competition. Ho\u00ebrskool Eldoraigne<\/strong>, a heavyweight from the Titans<\/strong> region in Pretoria, and Potchefstroom Volkskool<\/strong>, led by Christiaan Verster<\/strong>, will both join the action across the City of Roses in 2026.<\/p>\n
