The third edition of Ho\u00ebrskool Fichardtpark<\/strong>‘s Kovsie Smash<\/strong>, in Bloemfontein, will feature two highly anticipated new entrants.<\/p>\n

Ho\u00ebrskool Eldoraigne<\/strong>, a consistent contender in the top leagues within the Titans<\/strong>‘ structures, and Potchefstroom Volkskool<\/strong>, one of North West<\/strong>‘s leading producers of talent, will both be in action in the City of Roses.<\/p>\n

The tournament will feature 19 teams in competition across five days.<\/p>\n

The side from Potchefstroom<\/strong>\u00a0is likely a stayers’ outfit as another Volkies<\/strong><\/em>‘ team will be in action at the Grey Cricket Fest<\/strong> in Gqeberha. They will, nonetheless, be a strong team that highlights the depth of talent in the North West.<\/p>\n

Adding further intrigue to an already exciting week of cricket is the round one showdown between Eldos<\/strong><\/em> and Potch Volkskool, who meet on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The tournament features three Bloemfontein schools: Ho\u00ebrskool Fichardtpark<\/strong>, Jim Fouch\u00e9<\/strong>, and Ho\u00ebrskool Sentraal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ho\u00ebrskool Wesvalia<\/strong>, the winner of the tournament’s first two editions will not be back to challenge for a hat-trick of titles.<\/p>\n

The 2025 finalists, Ho\u00ebrskool Kalahari<\/strong>, from Kuruman, is expected to be a strong contender again. They begin their campaign against Goudveld<\/strong> at Grey College<\/strong>‘s\u00a0 Tommix Oval<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ho\u00ebrskool Lichtenburg<\/strong>, another new entrant, will face Ho\u00ebrskool Sasolburg<\/strong> on Monday morning, while Oos-Moot<\/strong> and Transvalia<\/strong> go head-to-head on the University of the Free State<\/strong>‘s (UFS) <\/strong>Oval in a match-up that promises early fireworks.<\/p>\n

As the name of the tournament suggests, Kovsies<\/strong><\/em> (UFS) host the week, along with Ho\u00ebrskool Fichardtpark<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool Sentraal<\/strong>, and Grey College.<\/p>\n

Limpopo’s Merensky Landbou Akademie<\/strong> sits out the opening round. The Plasies<\/strong><\/em>, the northernmost visitors to Bloemfontein, will make an eight-hour journey from Tzaneen and face Jim Fouch\u00e9 in their opening fixture at 14:00 on Monday.<\/p>\n

Day three, often referred to as “moving day”, will be highlighted by a meeting between Volkies and Kalahari, while Ho\u00ebrskool Pietersburg<\/strong> and the Liggies<\/strong> <\/em>(Ho\u00ebrskool Lichtenburg)<\/strong> lock horns in the same session.<\/p>\n

Matches on Monday and Tuesday will begin at 09:00 and 14:00, while Wednesday will feature only one full round, with most sides enjoying a break in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Thursday’s opening session will see the contenders in quarterfinals’ action, which will be followed by the semi-finals in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

The final takes place on the Kovsies’ Oval at 09:00 on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
