In preparation for their battle against SACS<\/strong> on Saturday, Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong> (PRG)<\/strong> hosted Pearson High<\/strong> for a 50-over contest on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

After winning the toss, the hosts enjoyed a relatively smooth outing at the crease when they opted to bat first.<\/p>\n

Janko Webb<\/strong>, at three, and Marcus Conradie<\/strong>, at five, made hay, with both compiling centuries.\u00a0Together, they took PRG from an unconvincing 43\/3 to 197\/4 after a 154-run fourth wicket partnership.<\/p>\n

Webb struck 13 fours and a six in his 102 off 97 balls. Conradie, meanwhile, stroked 10 fours and a maximum in the innings’ top score of 110, which came at more than a run a ball, off 103 deliveries. He was the eighth man to lose his wicket.<\/p>\n

Roux Joubert<\/strong>, batting at nine, kept the momentum rolling, however, weighing in with an unbeaten 41 off 39 to help Paul Roos to 312\/9 after their 50 overs.<\/p>\n

Jean Schultz<\/strong> claimed four wickets for the Gqeberha<\/strong> locals, sending down 10 overs that also cost him 53 runs. Meanwhile, Jayden Ward<\/strong> snagged 2\/23 from four.<\/p>\n

Pearson opener, Cale Price<\/strong>, played with confidence in the challenging run chase, blasting eight fours in a 33-ball stay that produced 42 runs. He was the first player to lose his wicket with the total on 71. From there, though, matters began to head south for Pearson.<\/p>\n

Morn\u00e9 Pauw<\/strong> removed both openers and claimed 2\/21 in six overs, while James Holm<\/strong> dialled up the pressure, surrendering only 24 runs from his 10 overs, which brought him two wickets, too.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the Pearson reply, Roux Joubert snapped up 2\/10 in a four-over spell.<\/p>\n

Seth Muirhead<\/strong> brought the contest to a sudden end when he captured 3\/5 in 2.5 overs, which left the visitors on 150 all out after 33.5 overs and Paul Roos the winners by an emphatic margin of 162 runs.<\/p>\n

Ho\u00ebrskool Durbanville vs Ho\u00ebrskool Parel Vallei<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also on Friday afternoon, Ho\u00ebrskool Parel Vallei<\/strong> (PV)<\/strong> visited Ho\u00ebrskool Durbanville<\/strong> for a T20 clash. The Somerset West<\/strong> side won the toss and elected to bat first.<\/p>\n

The reliable Chris Hughes <\/strong>top-scored at the top of the order, contributing a steady 34 runs off 35 balls. However, much like Pearson at PRG, PV struggled to build partnerships after a solid 42-run opening stand.<\/p>\n

Number five batsman, Ruben du Plessis<\/strong>, tried to pick up the pace in the middle overs, though, launching two sixes in his 22 off 18 deliveries, but the visitors mustered only an average 108\/7 from their 20 overs.<\/p>\n

Jan-Oscar van Tonder<\/strong> led the home bowling attack, getting rid of the PV top order on his way to 3\/25 from four overs. Farrel-Leigh Dido<\/strong> also took multiple wickets, collecting 2\/17 from his four.<\/p>\n

While Parel Vallei found it to be tough sledding at the crease, Durbies<\/strong><\/em> experienced even greater headwinds as the visiting bowlers dominated. Chris Hughes knocked over 3\/9, Dirk van Zyl 3\/10, and Daniel Dreyer nabbed 2\/8 in just two overs.<\/p>\n

Durbanville’s reply faltered early, and, try as they might, they were unable to secure a foothold; Ruben la Grange<\/strong>, batting at four, top-scored with a modest 13 runs.<\/p>\n

Farrel-Leigh Dido and Jeandr\u00e9 Janse van Rensburg <\/strong>chipped in with 12 each, but it wasn’t Durbies’ day, and they were bowled out for only 65 after 16.2 overs, leaving Parel Vallei with a comfortable 43-run win.<\/p>\n
