Day one of the Coastal Festival delivered high-quality entertainment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Oranje<\/strong> and the hosts, Our Lady of Fatima,<\/strong> recorded emphatic victories on the first day of the inaugural edition of the Coastal Hockey Festival<\/strong> on Friday.<\/p>\n

The event, which runs from 6 to 8 February, features some of the best hockey-playing schools in the country.<\/p>\n

Oranje issued a firm statement of their intentions for both the festival and season by scoring 15 unanswered goals across their two games.<\/p>\n

The ladies from Bloemfontein defeated St John’s DSG<\/strong> 4-0 before hitting their stride in an 11-0 thumping of St Stithians College<\/strong> in their second outing.<\/p>\n

Our Lady of Fatima recorded a 1-0 win over \u00a0Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Waterkloof <\/strong>in their first match before romping to a 7-0 win over Helpmekaar Kollege<\/strong> later in the day.<\/p>\n

Their provincial counterparts, St Mary’s DSG Kloof,<\/strong> also won comfortably against Helpmekaar, cruising to a 5-0 win.<\/p>\n

Eunice<\/strong> and Die\u00a0Ho\u00ebrskool\u00a0Menlopark<\/strong> also ended the opening day among the unbeatens.<\/p>\n

Eunice edged out St John’s 2-1 in their first match before undergoing a tough examination from Durban Girls’ College (DGC)<\/strong>, with their clash ending goalless. Menlopark played only once and impressed, handling DGC comfortably to win 4-0.<\/p>\n
