A massively expanded NMI Toyota Noord\/Suid<\/strong> Rugby Tournament<\/strong>, hosted by Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Seunskool (Affies)<\/strong>, kicks off\u00a0on Friday, 27 March.<\/p>\n

Follow all the action live on SuperSport Schools (www.supersportschools.com<\/a>) or Channel 216.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The highly-regarded event features 13 new teams.\u00a0Nine are from north of the Vaal River, while the other four represent the south.<\/p>\n

The northern newcomers are Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Zwartkop<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool Middelburg<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Wesvalia<\/strong>, HTS Middelburg<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool Klerksdorp<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Oos-Moot<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Montana<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool Kempton Park<\/strong> and Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Transvalia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The southern sides are Hugenote (Wellington)<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool Strand<\/strong>, Ho\u00ebrskool <\/strong>Trio<\/strong> and Bethlehem’s Witteberg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2014, the Noord\/Suid tournament began with only four schools. Twelve years later, a record 42 teams will be in action across four days.<\/p>\n

The expansion includes the addition of the Harlequins Rugby Club <\/strong>to the list of venues. ‘Quins<\/strong><\/em>, as they are commonly known, will host several fixtures, primarily involving 2nd XVs, along with other selected matches.<\/p>\n

One of the Noordvaal’s most exciting newcomers, Ho\u00ebrskool Zwartkop<\/strong>, kicks off the proceedings with a showdown against Voortrekker<\/strong> at 09:00 on Friday morning. Zwarries <\/em><\/strong>also take on Voortrekker’s fierce Bethlehem rivals, Witteberg<\/strong>, on the final day at Harlequins.<\/p>\n

Three enticing clashes highlight the opening day. At 16:30, Garsfontein<\/strong> tackles the exciting Stellenberg<\/strong> at 16:30. The Jade Brigade<\/em> <\/strong>has an early target on their back after they opened their season with a heart-stopping 20-19 victory over Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong> two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

That match is followed by Jeppe High School for Boys <\/strong>taking on last year’s top-ranked side, Paarl Boys’ High<\/strong>, at 18:00. The day’s final fixture features Ho\u00ebrskool Monument<\/strong> against Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong>, skippered by centre Tiaan Basson<\/a><\/strong>, at 19:30.<\/p>\n

Saturday will also be action-packed, with the same 19:30 timeslot once again the focal point of the day’s matches. The hosts, Affies<\/strong>, lock horns with Oakdale Landbou<\/strong>, with the clash of the Wit Bulle<\/strong><\/em> and Bulle<\/strong><\/em> expected to be a fearsome, physical contest.<\/p>\n

Menlopark<\/strong> will aim for a second unbeaten record at the tournament in as many years, and they, too, begin their campaign on Saturday, taking on Boland Landbou<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Noordheuwel<\/strong> faces a tough challenge against Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong>, while Grey College<\/strong> versus Helpmekaar<\/strong> is another standout fixture, which takes place in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

At Harlequins, Wesvalia<\/strong> faces Montana<\/strong>, while Ho\u00ebrskool Klerksdorp<\/strong> goes up against Ho\u00ebrskool Kempton Park<\/strong> in two all-Noordvaal clashes.<\/p>\n

The Mzawandile Mali XV<\/strong>, a fan favourite in 2025 because of their never-say-die attitude and running rugby, opens their account on Monday at 08:30 with a tough challenge against King Edward VII School<\/strong> (KES)<\/strong>. At 13:00, Ho\u00ebrskool Waterkloof<\/strong>\u2019s Blou Tornado <\/strong><\/em>faces Outeniqua’<\/strong>s Kwaggas<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Later in the day, Ho\u00ebrskool Monument<\/strong> will be put to the test by the Donkies<\/em> <\/strong>of HTS Drostdy<\/strong>, before Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> runs out against Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong> at 17:30. Paarl Boys’ High<\/strong> and Garsfontein<\/strong> conclude the day’s play at 19:00.<\/p>\n

At Harlequins, Transvalia<\/strong> faces Hugenote (Wellington)<\/strong>, while Oos-Moot<\/strong> takes on Strand<\/strong> in the final two matches of the day.<\/p>\n

The final day begins with HTS Middelburg<\/strong> facing Nico Malan<\/strong> at 08:30. At 10:00, Ho\u00ebrskool Middelburg<\/strong> and Wesvalia<\/strong> do battle in another all-Noordvaal clash.<\/p>\n

Other fixtures include Noordheuwel<\/strong> against Oakdale<\/strong>, and Menlopark<\/strong> against Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong>, before Grey College<\/strong> faces up to Stellenberg<\/strong> in the penultimate match.<\/p>\n

The tournament concludes on Tuesday evening, at 19:00, when Affies takes on Ho\u00ebrskool Durbanville<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
