Photo: <strong>Noah da Costa<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While some teams took a step up on Sunday, the second day of the Nomads Hockey Festival left others struggling to find consistency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The host school,<strong> Pretoria Boys High School<\/strong> <strong>(PBHS)<\/strong>, enjoyed a good day. <strong>King Edward VII<\/strong> <strong>(KES)<\/strong> also made their presence felt, and Selborne College claimed a prized scalp, but <strong>Hilton College<\/strong> ended the day frustrated after winning one and losing one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The annual event concludes on Monday, and the action is live on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/Nomads2026\">SuperSport Schools<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/goals-galore-and-statement-wins-mark-nomads-dramatic-opening-day\/\">opening day of the festival<\/a> <\/strong>was filled with goals and surprise results, and day two continued in the same vein.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The first upset came bright and early when Selborne College stunned <strong>Jeppe High School for Boys<\/strong> 1-0.\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Mivuyo Lwana<\/strong>\u2019s strike sealed the win for the East London side, which had absorbed serious pressure for most of the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jeppe dominated possession and created numerous circle entries and penalty corners, but they were left to rue many missed opportunities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In their second match of the day, the boys from Kensington looked like a different outfit and produced an impressive performance to beat <strong>Grey High School<\/strong> 4-2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">They led 3-1 at the break after a fast start, which resulted in goals for <strong>Adrian Laubsher<\/strong>, <strong>Kade Lottering<\/strong>, and <strong>Breydan Karle<\/strong>, while <strong>Keegan le Roux<\/strong> replied for Grey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The second half was a dog fight. Le Roux reduced the deficit to one goal by converting a penalty stroke in the third quarter. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jeppe remained resilient and defended strongly. They eventually sealed victory after a deadly overhead link-up between <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kgotso Lehloenya and <\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Karle late in the fourth chukka produced a superb match-winner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hockey - Jeppe vs Grey High School - Nomads U18 Festival - 29 March 2026\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ssbWxK6d1Vw?start=6&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After going down to Grey High on the opening day, KES bounced back in style, recording victories over <strong>Wynberg Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> and <strong>Maritzburg College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><em><strong>The Red Sticks<\/strong><\/em>, led by coach <strong>Siya Sityana<\/strong>, beat Wynberg 3-1, thanks to a <strong>Yusuf Smith<\/strong> brace and a strike by <strong>Kamohelo Tsoka<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Later in the day, they beat <strong>College<\/strong> by the same score. This time around, it was their deadly drag flicker, <strong>Andrew Arouca<\/strong>, who bagged a brace, while <strong>Blaine Candy<\/strong> also scored, and <strong>Luthando Shelembe<\/strong> netted for College.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The hosts, PBHS, played some impressive hockey in front of their home crowd.\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">They did just enough to beat <strong>Kearsney College<\/strong> 1-0 in their first game of the day before also edging out Selborne College 1-0, thanks to a goal by <strong>Paidin Gray<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Hilton College<\/strong> ended the day with mixed feelings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">They did extremely well in their first match against <strong>St John\u2019s College<\/strong> to come from three goals down to win 6-3.<strong> Ben Wilson<\/strong> led the charge with a hat-trick, while <strong>Tadi Hove<\/strong>, <strong>Anthony Crossley<\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/five-players-to-watch-at-the-nomads-hockey-festival-2\/\">Santi Matroos<\/a> <\/strong>also netted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hockey - St John&amp;apos;s College vs Hilton College - Nomads U18 Festival - 29 March 2026\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9dl8Wiud9-k?start=321&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Later in the day, they were unable to replicate their come-from-behind act and were beaten 3-0 by Wynberg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mustafa Kajee<\/strong> was in fine form for the Cape Town school, netting a brace, and<strong> Ntsika Maho<\/strong> added his name to the scoresheet.<\/p>\n<p>Wynberg coach <strong>Devin Stanton<\/strong> would&#8217;ve been pleased with the victory, but he is still seeking more consistency from his side.<\/p>\n<p>In other matches, <strong>Affies<\/strong> suffered a 1-5 loss at the hands of Grey High before playing to a thrilling 3-3 draw with <strong>Grey College<\/strong>.
