One of the most anticipated events on the South African schools’ hockey calendar, the St Stithians Easter Hockey Festival,<\/strong> is upon us.<\/p>\n

The showpiece, which enters its 42nd year, hosts games on 1, 2, and 4 April.<\/p>\n

The three-day festival forms part of the Saints Sports Festival,<\/strong> under the theme of “Saints Journey, One Legacy”.<\/p>\n

\u201cSportsFest is a celebration of sport, but it is also an opportunity to recall the journeys that brought us to this point and honour the legacy of those who have gone before us,” Celeste Gilardi,<\/strong> the St Stithians’ Rector, said in the festival\u2019s brochure.<\/p>\n

“Sports, with its sacrifices, challenges, triumphs, and defeats, are all part of our collective and personal histories.”<\/p>\n

The hockey section will feature 22 teams, with 11 teams in the boys’ section and another 11 on the girls’ side.<\/p>\n

St Stithians Boys\u2019 College<\/strong> will be joined by St Benedict’s<\/strong>, Pretoria Boys’ High (PBHS)<\/strong>, Hilton College<\/strong>, Menlopark<\/strong>, St David’s Marist Inanda<\/strong>, Ashton International College <\/strong>Ballito<\/strong>, the St Stithians Festival XI<\/strong>, Clifton College<\/strong>, Falcon College<\/strong>, and Reddam House Constantia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

St Stithians Girls’ College<\/strong> will be challenged in the girls’ section by Beaulieu College<\/strong>, Menlopark<\/strong>, Springfield Convent<\/strong>, Waterkloof<\/strong>, the St Stithians Festival XI<\/strong>, Ashton College<\/strong>, Diocesan College (DSG) Makhanda<\/strong>, Bethlehem Voortrekker<\/strong>, Epworth<\/strong>, and Falcon College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

An additional two teams, the St Stithians Girls’ College Alumni XI<\/strong> and the St Stithians Boys’ College Alumni XI,<\/strong> will take to the field against the hosts’ girls\u2019 and boys’ teams for exhibition games on Thursday.<\/p>\n
