\"\"Goals continued to flow in the Gauteng Development League (GDL)<\/strong> on the weekend. There were disappointments for many, while others maintained their winning momentum.<\/p>\n

In a goal-fest, the Africa School of Excellence <\/strong>and Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA)<\/strong> shared a thrilling 4-4 draw.<\/p>\n

Thabang Masihla <\/strong>and Bandile Sithole <\/strong>netted the first two goals for RESA, both assisted by Tsepo Mokhethi<\/strong>. Sithole later added his second goal, this time with assistance from Ntabo Radebe<\/strong>, who doubled up by assisting Nceba Jozela <\/strong>to score the Vaal Triangle club’s fourth.<\/p>\n

Kagontle Oliphant <\/strong>set up Simthembile Khulwane<\/strong> for Africa School of Excellence’s opener, but that was merely the start. Oliphant still had plenty more to contribute to his team. He assisted Qiniso Mhlongo<\/strong>‘s second goal, and then laid on the third for Mbuso Msibi<\/strong>. Mhlongo later turned provider, assisting Liam Jooste<\/strong> on the School of Excellence’s fourth goal.<\/p>\n

The University of Pretoria (Tuks)<\/strong> defeated Panorama<\/strong> 3-1.<\/p>\n

Junior Mbele<\/strong>, assisted by Neo Msawabi<\/strong>, scored a consolation goal for the Roodepoort-based club, while the Tuks’ goal scorers were Mark Kiggundu<\/strong>, who opened the scoring, and Seboledi<\/strong> Mphahlele<\/strong>. An own goal sealed a 3-1 victory.<\/p>\n

The log leaders, Siwelele<\/strong>, fell to their first defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 1-2 to the Prestige Football Development Academy<\/strong>. Malibongwe Mbanjwa<\/strong> and Salimu Makhomu<\/strong>, both assisted by Abraham Mosweu<\/strong>, struck for the winners, while\u00a0Prince Kalaba<\/strong> netted for Siwelele.<\/p>\n

Highlands Park<\/strong>, after a much-needed win over Mamelodi Sundowns<\/strong> last weekend, found their efforts undermined again by their offence. Still, they came away with a 0-0 draw against Kaizer Chiefs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Chiefs outplayed Jomo Cosmos 6-0 last weekend<\/a><\/strong>. Despite the Phefeni Glamour Boys<\/strong><\/em> boasting the GDL’s top scorer, Njabulo Msimango<\/strong>, who has seven to his name, they were unable to breach Highlands Park’s defences.<\/p>\n

While Chiefs and the Lions of the North <\/strong><\/em>couldn’t find the back of the net, the 2025 GDL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, scored a 4-1 victory over Wits Junior<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sibusiso Tolomane, Ntokozo Madondo, Sipho Mkhwanazi, <\/strong>and Mpho Molepo <\/strong>netted for the Brazilians<\/strong><\/em>, who were eager to redeem themselves after suffering a 0-1 defeat at Clapham High<\/strong> against Highlands Park.<\/p>\n

GDL newcomers, Future of Africa<\/strong>, have made a good start to the season, and they’re currently positioned in the top five of the standings.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, they defeated Rockefvs<\/strong>, another side that has started the season well,<\/strong> 2-0. Okuhle Chiya<\/strong> scored the first goal, assisted by Rorisang Motaung<\/strong>. Chiya then played in Thabo Mussinango<\/strong> for Future of Africa’s second.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the match between Randburg<\/strong> and Seven’s Academy<\/strong> was halted because of lightning, with Randburg leading 3-0 on goals from Patrick Chisunga, Lowell Borman, <\/strong>and Sipho Mantunga<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The remaining 25 minutes of the match still need to be played.<\/p>\n
