The withdrawal of Malmesbury’s Ho\u00ebrskool Swartland<\/strong> has paved the way for Ligbron Akademie<\/strong> to join the Fairtree Sport Festival<\/strong>, hosted by Die Ho\u00ebrskool Menlopark<\/strong> in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

Swartland was one of three sides travelling from south of the Vaal River to face a strong Noordvaal contingent. In their stead, Liggies<\/strong><\/em>, from Ermelo, has accepted an invitation to the new event.<\/p>\n

The late change has also resulted in a shuffling of fixtures.<\/p>\n

The match between Heidelberg Volkskool<\/strong> and Ho\u00ebrskool Swartland<\/strong>, originally scheduled for 15:50 on Saturday, has been replaced by a clash between Ho\u00ebrskool Marais Viljoen<\/strong> and Ho\u00ebrskool Merensky Landbou Akademie<\/strong>. They were initially set to meet on Monday, but the Plasies<\/strong><\/em>, from Tzaneen, will now face that challenge two days earlier than previously scheduled.<\/p>\n

Ho\u00ebrskool Randburg<\/strong> will present the first hurdle for Ligbron Akademie<\/strong>, before Liggies<\/strong><\/em> take on Ho\u00ebrskool Merensky Landbou Akademie<\/strong> on Monday.<\/p>\n

The headliner on the opening day is the clash involving Stephan Janse van Rensburg<\/strong><\/a> and company, from Ho\u00ebrskool Pietersburg<\/strong>, against Ho\u00ebrskool Fichardtpark<\/strong>. The kick-off time has been slightly adjusted to 19:40 from 19:15.<\/p>\n

That will be the first of two stern tests for Ho\u00ebrskool Fichardtpark<\/strong>. The Bloemfontein school tackles Heidelberg Volkskool <\/strong>on Monday. Volkies<\/strong><\/em> will use the clash as valuable preparation before they lock horns with Ho\u00ebrskool Zwartkop<\/strong> in the final of the NWU Prestige Series<\/strong> the following Friday.<\/p>\n

The Buffels<\/strong><\/em> of Ho\u00ebrskool Ben Vorster<\/strong> and Ho\u00ebrskool<\/strong>\u00a0Dinamika <\/strong>will still feature in the curtain-raiser to the final match on the opening day, with kick-off scheduled for 17:15.<\/p>\n

The hosts, Die Ho\u00ebrskool Menlopark<\/strong>, get proceedings underway against Ho\u00ebrskool Tygerberg<\/strong> in a one-off 1st XV fixture at 19:30 on Friday. Parkies<\/strong><\/em> welcome back their stalwart centre, Dylan Stumke<\/strong><\/a>, who returns from an injury sustained against Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong> during the NMI Toyota Noord\/Suid<\/strong> at Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Seunskool<\/strong> in Pretoria late last month.<\/p>\n

He will, however, be without his midfield partner, Danie Botma<\/strong>. The Parkies’ <\/strong><\/em>coaching staff has opted to rest Botma with the Virseker Noordvaal Cup<\/strong> fast approaching.<\/p>\n

Jody Abrahams<\/strong>, usually a threat on the left wing, will do duty at full-back as Die Ho\u00ebrskool Menlopark <\/strong>aims not only to make a statement against Ho\u00ebrskool Tygerberg<\/strong>, but also to assess their depth and combinations.<\/p>\n
