{"id":9437,"date":"2021-03-10T16:03:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T16:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rugby.supersportschools.com\/next-steps-announced-for-amateur-return-to-play\/"},"modified":"2021-03-10T16:03:20","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T16:03:20","slug":"next-steps-announced-for-amateur-return-to-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=9437","title":{"rendered":"Next steps announced for amateur return to play"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-8664\" style=\"margin: 0px 10px 5px 0px; float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/rugby.supersportschools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NewsGAffiesHelp.jpg\" alt=\"NewsGAffiesHelp\" width=\"380\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NewsGAffiesHelp.jpg 556w, https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NewsGAffiesHelp-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/>SA Rugby announced that club rugby, from Under-19 level upwards, will be permitted to move to contact training (Phase 2 of the integrated return to train and play) from Monday 15 March, provided all players had undertaken non-contact training for at least four weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, schools and junior club teams (U18 and below) are not permitted to move to Phase 2 of the training strategy, and no amateur rugby matches are allowed to take place (clubs, schools and associations) for the time being.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Clubs must strictly adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols and any club player wishing to continue to contact training must have completed the compulsory four-week block of non-contact training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The SA Rugby Exco approved the recommendations that clubs and associations (above U18 level) can start making contact at training, but prohibited any form of matches \u2013 friendly or competitive \u2013 at amateur level. This excludes non-contact versions of rugby, namely TAG and Touch, which are allowed to stage matches, without any supporters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe final decision regarding whether a club can start non-contact training or continue to contact training will rest with the relevant union and\/or the chairperson or compliance officer of the specific club,\u201d said Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cSchools rugby falls under the auspices of the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and will remain on non-contact training until such a time that the DBE permits these teams to progress in their preparations. These restrictions include all club sides from U8 to U18 level too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cWe are expecting a decision by the DBE on the next steps for schools in due course and are working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure swift progress in this regard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Non-contact development programmes, such as Get Into Rugby and Vuka, are allowed to continue subject to the permission of the principal of each school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The return to play for amateur rugby (Phase 3) will be discussed and considered early next month, to ensure a decision is made for a possible start by the middle of April 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Important conditions:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All the conditions for the return to training of contact sport as published in the relevant Government Gazettes and Directions are met.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On the publication of any further changes and amendments stipulated in the Government Gazettes and Directions must be implemented immediately.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All the relevant and applicable health and safety measures are observed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No supported are allowed at training sessions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SA Rugby\u2019s COVID-19 Amateur Rugby Return to Train and Play Guidelines must always be observed as well as the Health and Safety&nbsp;directives as per government regulations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>Issued by SA Rugby Communications<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[powr-comments id=&#8221;f7ed55fc_1615392113063&#8243;]<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SA Rugby announced that club rugby, from Under-19 level upwards, will be permitted to move to contact training (Phase 2 of the integrated return to train and play) from Monday 15 March, provided all players had undertaken non-contact training for at least four weeks.
