Ligbron Akademie<\/strong> powered their way to a convincing 33\u201314 victory over Ho\u00ebrskool Randburg<\/strong> at the Fairtree Sport Festival on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Playing at Die Ho\u00ebrskool Menlopark<\/strong> in Pretoria, Liggies<\/strong><\/em>, from Ermelo, asserted their dominance early. They crossed for three tries in quick succession, with their forwards providing good quality ball, and Ho\u00ebrskool Randburg<\/strong> was unable to contain them.<\/p>\n

Lihbron’s loose trio was outstanding, led by captain Henco Scheepers<\/strong>, who wore the no. 19 jersey. Their relentless work rate set the tone from the outset.<\/p>\n

Both Scheepers<\/strong> and openside flank Johardt Swanepoel<\/strong> crossed the try-line, with Swanepoel opening the scoring for Liggies<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Ho\u00ebrskool Randburg<\/strong>‘s standout performer was their flyhalf, Hendrico van Reenen<\/strong>, who contributed nine of his side’s 14 points, including a try, which was a classic number 10’s effort – selling a dummy before slicing through the defence shortly before half-time.<\/p>\n

For much of the first half, Randburg<\/strong> kept Ligbron<\/strong>‘s defence honest, but the Liggies’ superiority eventually brought them a 19-point victory.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, the Die Ho\u00ebrskool Menlopark<\/strong> Invitational<\/strong> side withstood a spirited fightback from Ho\u00ebrskool Overvaal<\/strong> to claim a hard-fought 36-27 win.<\/p>\n

The <\/span>Parkies’ <\/strong>victory<\/span> was a product of their forwards’ dominance, which was underlined by the fact that all six of their tries were scored by members of their pack, with hooker Gihann Parsons<\/strong> and openside flank De Wet Holtzhausen<\/strong> each crossing the whitewash twice.<\/p>\n

The man of the match honours, though, went to blindside flank, Eduan Bothma<\/strong>, whose engine ran on all cylinders throughout the contest.<\/p>\n

All credit to Ho\u00ebrskool Overvaal<\/strong>, they refused to buckle. Their challenge was led by left wing Eckardt Hanse van Vuuren<\/strong> and outside centre Connor Eley<\/strong>, who kept the Invitational side under pressure throughout the contest.<\/p>\n

In the day’s opening match, Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Seunskool<\/strong>‘s (Affies)<\/strong> 5th XV, better known as the Bruinbere<\/strong><\/em>, ran out 37-20 winners over Ho\u00ebrskool Dr Malan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Flyhalf Dant\u00e9 Meyer<\/strong>, the younger brother of former Affies 1st XV scrumhalf Zirk Meyer<\/strong>, delivered a standout performance, contributing 17 of his side’s points from two tries, two conversions, and a penalty.<\/p>\n

Hooker Dylan Hopkins<\/strong> kept Dokkies <\/strong><\/em>competitive. He also crossed for two tries, which was a deserved reward for his industrious performance.<\/p>\n
