After losing in the 2025 final to Zeekoevlei High<\/strong><\/a>, Urban Academy<\/strong> ensured they went all the way in 2026 by beating Bishops <\/strong>3-1 in the final of the Wynberg Freedom Cup<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Their standout player, Qhamani Gubevu<\/strong>, played a crucial role for the Gqeberha school throughout the tournament and was a deserving recipient of the Player of the Tournament<\/strong> Award<\/strong> for his exceptional performances.<\/p>\n

He dominated the final against Bishops, controlling the game against a team that had won the St Andrew’s College Football Cup in 2025<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the semi-finals, Urban Academy beat Westerford High<\/strong> 2-0, while Bishops narrowly secured a 1-0 win against George Royal Academy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Plate went the way of Pinelands High<\/strong>, who scored a 2-0 victory over last year’s Cup winners, Zeekoevlei.<\/p>\n

The Bowl final, originally scheduled for Sunday, was not played as Trinity House Centurion<\/strong> forfeited their match against Trident College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

George Royal Academy crowned u17 champions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wynberg’s 1st XI exited the u19 competition after a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to Westerford High, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. But Wynberg’s u17 side made it all the way to the final. They, however, stumbled on the final hurdle, with George Royal Academy claiming the silverware by a slim 1-0 margin.<\/p>\n

St Peter’s College<\/strong> edged out Reddam House Constantia <\/strong>in the Plate final. There was next to nothing between the sides. They finished regulation time 1-1 before St Peter’s claimed a tension-filled penalty shootout 6-5.<\/p>\n

The Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology (CAMST)<\/strong> secured the bronze medal by defeating Edgemead High<\/strong> 1-0.<\/p>\n

Curro Century City<\/strong> captured the Bowl, beating Westerford High in the final.<\/p>\n

Paul Roos Gimnasium crowned u15 champions\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The u15 title came down to a penalty shootout between Paul Roos<\/strong> and Grey College<\/strong> after neither scored in regulation time. The Western Cape locals, then, snatched victory 3-1 from the spot.<\/p>\n

St Peter’s College lifted the Plate, sneaking past Curro Century City 4-3 in a penalty shootout, following a goalless draw.<\/p>\n

Wynberg Boys’ High<\/strong> placed third after a 1-0 win over Bridge House.<\/p>\n

The Bowl was also decided from the spot, with Reddam House Constantia beating Hout Bay International<\/strong> 3-1 following a goalless draw.<\/p>\n
