Photo: Supplied.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The stars are shining brightly for the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/glenwood-crowned-kzn-coastal-champions\/\">2023<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/alakhe-mdluli-leads-glenwood-to-consecutive-coastal-league-titles\/\">2024<\/a> Mancosa KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Coastal A-League <\/strong>champions, <strong>Glenwood High<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After failing to qualify for the final in 2025, the <em><strong>Green Machine<\/strong><\/em> is top of the table with two games remaining in the regular season. They&#8217;ve won four, drawn one, and have 13 points from five matches.<\/p>\n<p>Following a <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/glenwood-held-by-port-shepstone-in-week-four-of-kzn-coastal-a-league\/\"><strong>2-2 draw against<\/strong> <strong>Port Shepstone High<\/strong><\/a> last week, Glenwood returned to winning form with a bang on Tuesday, securing a 7-2 victory over <strong>Bechet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aphelele Magwaza<\/strong> scored two goals, while <strong>Mbuso Gumede, Ukwazi Dludla, <\/strong><strong>Sonwabile Ncanywa, <\/strong>and<strong> Iviwe Mkhulise<\/strong> also netted. With his goal, Dludlu maintained his impressive run of scoring in every league game this season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/category\/61260bfd768002775e104e2e\/sub-category\/69df4a74a3216596c5f17103\/\"><strong>Catch the KZNHSFA Inland A-League action LIVE on SuperSport Schools<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last season, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/westville-boys-lifts-kznhsfa-coastal-a-league-title\/\"><strong>Hillcrest High finished as the runner-up of the 2025 Coastal A-League<\/strong><\/a>, losing to <strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> in the final. After an outstanding season, they have struggled this year, winning only one of their five matches and losing the other four.<\/p>\n<p>They currently occupy seventh place with three points, just above <strong>Bechet<\/strong>, who are in last place. Bechet has the same number of points and the same record, but Hillcrest holds a slight edge on goal difference. With two matches to go, both have plenty to play for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Northwood<\/strong>, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season, has made huge improvements this campaign, and they occupy second place after defeating Hillcrest High 2-0, thanks to goals from <strong>Benjamin van Huyssteen<\/strong> and <strong>Dimphotsenhle Motloung<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Knights<\/strong><\/em>&#8216; 2025 campaign featured highs and lows. They started the season poorly, narrowly escaping being relegated from the Coastal A-League. Once they found their way, though, they were a force to be reckoned with, and they concluded the year by winning the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/after-a-stunning-turnaround-northwood-wins-the-coveted-cowie-cup\/\"><strong>Cowie Cup against Carter High<\/strong><\/a>, the runner-up of the <strong>KZN Inland A-League<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pinetown Boys&#8217; High<\/strong>, after starting the season poorly and remaining close to the relegation zone, has ascended to fifth following a 1-0 victory over <strong>Port Shepstone High<\/strong>. However, they remain in a precarious position, with four points from five matches, which includes one win, one draw, and three losses.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/westville-boys-lifts-kznhsfa-coastal-a-league-title\/\"><strong>defending champion, Westville Boys&#8217; High<\/strong><\/a>, is in third place after a 2-1 win over <strong>Durban High School (DHS)<\/strong> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carter leads the KZN Inland A-League<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, <strong>Carter High<\/strong> will have a chance to increase its lead in the Inland A-League when they tackle <strong>Maritzburg College<\/strong> in a big <strong>Pietermaritzburg rivalry match<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ve been the Inland A-League pace-setters in recent seasons. The <em><strong>Red, Black, <\/strong><\/em>and<em><strong> White<\/strong><\/em> clinched the title in <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/maritzburg-college-crowned-champions-of-kzn-high-schools-football-league\/\"><strong>2023 after defeating Linpark in the final<\/strong><\/a>. That same year, Maritzburg College claimed a treble, with that <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/treble-winners-maritzburg-colleges-best-xi-football-team-in-their-160-year-history\/\"><strong>squad being touted as the finest football team in the 160-year history of Maritzburg College<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, though, led by <strong>Ntuthuko Mnguni<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/ntuthuko-mngunis-goal-wins-carter-the-kzn-inland-championship\/\"><strong>Carter High was crowned the champion, beating College in the title game<\/strong><\/a>. Last season, College avenged that defeat, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/maritzburg-college-crowned-kzn-inland-a-league-champion\/\"><strong>beating Carter High 2-0 in the final<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday afternoon, they meet at College&#8217;s <strong>Barns Field<\/strong>. There is seldom much between the sides, and their clashes are entertaining back-and-forth affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Maritzburg College heads into the showdown off a goalless draw against <strong>Haythorne Secondary<\/strong>, while Carter High secured a 2-0 victory over <strong>ML Sultan<\/strong> last week at Barns Field.<\/p>\n<p>Carter High holds a two-point lead over College in the standings, with 10, while the home side has eight points and is in third place. They&#8217;re split by <strong>Ixopo High<\/strong>, who have nine points.<\/p>\n<p>Should College win, they would move above Carter. Ixopo could also go top.
