\"NewsGPaarl Gimnasium<\/strong> did extremely well to defeat Rondebosch Boys’ High<\/strong> by 52-21 in Cape Town. The team from Paarl has been severely disrupted by injuries and illness, but as the scoreline suggests they do have quite some depth. <\/span><\/p>\n

Their inside centre, Janeil Losper<\/strong>, had to withdraw due to illness on the morning of the match. Losper, who usually starts at outside centre, was to fill in for PA van Niekerk<\/strong>. The team has also lost hooker, Luca Bakkes<\/strong>, flyhalf, Liam Koen<\/strong>, and fullback, Shaun Ray<\/strong>, since the start of the Wildeklawer-tournament due to injury. <\/span><\/p>\n

Gimmies gave the ball some air as both wingers, Johandr\u00e9 van Niekerk<\/strong> and Thyron Ross<\/strong>, bagged braces of tries against Rondebosch. The star performer for Gimmies was their flanker Dean Crouse<\/strong> who was massive at the breakdowns and also was solid on defence. <\/span><\/p>\n

Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong> had to work hard to take SACS<\/strong> down 20-12 in their annual clash. <\/span><\/p>\n

SACS led 12-10 at the break thanks to a brilliant try by flyhalf, Akha Mjawule<\/strong>, which might count as one of the top tries in schoolboy rugby for 2022 at the end of the season. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wynberg Boys’ High<\/strong> caused a bit of a surprise by beating Boland Landbou<\/strong> in ‘n high-scoring affair by 61-40. The victors already managed to build up a more than healthy 42-5 lead at the break. <\/span><\/p>\n

Asad Moos<\/strong> (scrumhalf), Zack Porthen<\/strong> (prop), and J’que Huckins<\/strong> (wing) all managed to cross the try line twice during the encounter. In total 15 tries was scored in this match which was without a doubt a try-fest. <\/span><\/p>\n

For Boland Landbou their centre Albie Bester<\/strong> also completed a brace of tries. <\/span><\/p>\n

Oakdale Landbou<\/strong> hosted Stellenberg and came out on top 34-17 thanks to a brace of tries by winger Therlow Prins<\/strong> as well as the trusty boot of centre Kobus Janse van Rensburg<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Durbanville<\/strong>‘s winger James Nero<\/strong> scored a hat-trick of tries as they defeated Brackenfell<\/strong> comfortably by 45-15. <\/span><\/p>\n
