Oakdale Landbou rugbyweek bepalings – 2016

    Merensky vs. Pretoria THS
    Oos-Moot vs. Montana
    Ben Vorster vs. Potchefstroom Gimnasium
EG Jansen vs. Jeppe Boys’ High
    Monument vs. Diamantveld
    Waterkloof vs. Welkom Gimnasium

Jordaan appointed as Paul Roos’ head coach

Paul Roos GymnasiumStephan Jordaan will be Paul Roos Gimnasium’s new head coach. Jordaan is not new to the job because he has coached the first team before with Dawie Snyman jr, who is currently is assistant coach for Western Province’s Currie Cup team.

Jordaan who coached the u16 side last year will replace the vacancy left by Hein Kriek, who left Stellenbosch to join the Pumas in Nelspruit. Frans van Niekerk will still be the head of rugby. Lucas Roothman, assistant coach to Kriek last year, will still be the assistant coach responsible for the backs this year.

Paul Roos Gimnasium is in a very fortunate position to also have the expertise of Jacques Hanekom and the full compliment of resources from the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS) to our disposal. Hanekom has left WP rugby at the end of 2015 and was appointed to head up the coaching division of SAS.

He will act as director coaching and will work very closely with all the other coaches of Paul Roos including Jordaan and Roothman. Hanekom and Jordaan have coached the first team from 1990 untill 2005 when Hanekom was appointed by WP Rugby. Paul Roos welcome back and old friend who knows the ethos of the school and it’s rugby like the palm of his hand.

  • Coca-Cola renews SA Rugby sponsorships for three years

Coca-Cola South Africa will remain the title sponsor of SA Rugby’s highly successful Youth Week tournaments and an associate sponsor of the Vodacom Super Rugby competition until 2018.

It was announced on Wednesday that Coca-Cola South Africa, who first became involved with SA Rugby as a sponsor in 1997, have extend their partnership with the organisation for a further three years, which will stretch their association with rugby in South Africa to 21 years.

As part of the SA Rugby Youth Weeks sponsorship, Coca-Cola South Africa will also continue to fund the Coca-Cola Schools of Excellence programme, which aims to develop skilled rugby players from schools in previously disadvantaged communities across the country.

The programme, which includes young boys and girls from the age of 15 and was rolled out at 30 schools up until 2015, will be implemented at 42 schools this year from all 15 South African provincial rugby unions.

“Coca-Cola is one of the most popular and recognisable brands worldwide and they have been a loyal partner for many years, so I am delighted to see them remain in the SA Rugby sponsorship family,” said SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux.

“Their commitment to rugby development and transformation through their support of the Coca-Cola Youth Weeks and the Coca-Cola Schools of Excellence Programme is commendable, and with their backing we believe we will be in a good position to achieve our transformation goals as set out in our Strategic Transformation Plan.

“We look forward to another mutually-beneficial three years with them.”

Commenting on the new sponsorship deal, Coca-Cola South Africa Marketing Director Sharon Keith said: “Coca-Cola South Africa is immensely proud to continue our support of the development of the country’s future rugby heroes through our renewed backing of the four Coca-Cola Youth Weeks. Over the years we have had the pleasure of witnessing first-hand the incredible foundation these tournaments have created for schoolboy rugby.

“The Coca-Cola Craven Week is undoubtedly one of the premier rugby occasions in South Africa and with so many current and past Springboks coming through its ranks, we can’t wait to follow the progress of the future heroes produced in the coming years.”
